These are most of the great girls I had the privledge of going to YC Edmonton with. For those of you unfamiliar with YC, It is a huge youth conference held at Rexall Place, over 17,000 youth attend from around the country. Bands such as Hawk Nelson, Skillet, Delirious, and United have the oppurtunity to play to these youth. There is also a speaker for the main sessions and then side sessions for the afternoons that you can choose to attend. Most for the youth, but some for the leaders.
What I didn't realize is how inappropriate is was to bring a baby. He was definitely the only one, the noise is incredible and being surrounded constantly by thousands of youth is very exhausting for me and for him. Everything seemed to be an extra effort, find and elevator for the many times we rode the LRT train, find an elevator at the complex, find a quiet place to feed him and put him to sleep, being bombarded by security and told strollers aren't allowed in the complex (ahh yeah right, I am not carrying my baby all day, thankyou very much). Thankfully Jeff's store was there so I could hang out there while the main sessions were held-it was very crowded there as well so I felt in the way most of the time.
The other thing I didn't realize is that you leave the hotel at 8am and don't return until after midnight.
Before you all think it was a complete disaster, there were some huge blessings. Being in an apartment style hotel room, so Aiden and I had our own room, Dustin Jeff's best friend was a HUGE help and a baby that absolutely stunned even me. Amidst all the noise and chaos, mixed up feeding times and weird nap times, I think he only cried twice. He slept, he entertained those around him and most shockingly stayed on the four hour schedule I have desprately been trying to attain. Aiden also travelled amazingly, pretty much slept the whole way there and the whole way back:)
Saturday night the girls didn't want to stay for the concert, so we went back to the hotel and had a "potluck" with all the treats everyone had brought along. We just talked and laughed until we cried, it was so awesome to just have a time to bond in that way. I guess I kind of felt I had to be so attentive to Aiden that I was missing out on why I was really there, to support my girls.
I think it was really frustrating that Jeff had to work, and those are incredibly long days for him, he did miss out on a steak dinner with his boss and staff to hang out with me on Saturday night! Thank you Thank you honey, so I could at least attend one main session, which was United's turn to do worship, there is nothing like worshipping with 17,000 other people(also doing the wave was pretty fun)
So needless to say when we climbed in our beds Sunday night at 1:30am, it felt incredible to be home.
If we go next year definitely some changes, including leaving my precious son and Jeff will not be going to work again, but rather with the youth! YEAH!

Way to go on taking Aiden on the trip. Believe me, I KNOW how hard it is to travel with a baby!! It's never easy even on a short trip. I'm glad he's taking to the 4-hour schedule. That made my life SO much easier when Keziah made the switch!
I must say that rain is definitly helping out the green factor in your lawn. Hope the sun comes out soon! Thanks for the great chat today, it was perfect!
Wow - that's quite the trip. Aiden sounds like he was quite the trooper. Yay for a 4 hour schedule. I am really enjoying Kyra being on it. It sounds like you had fun despite being so exhausted. Love you!
You are braver then me to take Aiden on such a big trip. I'm glad that you all survived and that it went pretty good. Babies really do change a person's life. Some easy tasks are a little more complicated. I enjoy reading your blog (and of course seeing the pictures of Aiden :)
