Here we are anxiously awaiting our first flight. That was the worst one, since we had to take an evening flight so Jeff could still work that day, we had to fly to Edmonton, wait for 3 hours, fly to Calgary and then finally to Abbotsford. We arrived there on Friday night, and then flew a straight through flight to Puerta Vallarta on Saturday afternoon with my brother and his family. I got to spend Saturday with my cousin Rosanna and she graciously drove half of us to the airport, to lunch and then back to the airport. A bit of a gong show. But the kids were so excited and ALL of them flew soooo well. Aiden had really good sleeps on all of the flights. We felt really thankful! What follows is a ton of pictures and surprise, surprise only a fraction of what I took!!
We spent a LOT of time eating, we were at an all-inclusive, so everything was free and there was always food available. For dinners they did fancier affairs, which was really awesome, I ate a lot of shrimp and Jeff ate a lot of steak. The one restaraunt we could only reserve once in our week, it was more formal, so it was fun to get all dressed up!
Aiden's sleeping throughout the week. He did really good, and we discovered on day 3, if we brought his playpen out, he would nap in there just fine!
Our routine for the day, was wake up, lather up with sunscreen, put on swim suits, eat breakfast, and then camp out at the pool for the rest of the day. Yep it was the life. It's definitely feels like a vacation, sitting in my beach chair, having someone serve me drinks! The disappointment in it all was the weather, it was warm, but not hot until our last day! Disappointing for the potential tanning we were aiming for.
Our beach had a pretty mean currant, so we didn't spend much time down there. I much preferred my beach lounger at the pool anyway:)
Fun times with family!
Yep we were pretty happy!
We took a bus downtown to the big market, the girls had their hair braided down there. We did a bit of shopping, but didn't find to many things that we were into.
The bus ride was pretty fun! A little bumpy if you ask the guys sitting in the back. However, Aiden still fell asleep on it LOL. We walked the boardwalk downtown, there were some really awesome sand sculptures, Bubba Gumps (yes totally based on Forrest Gump, with the best popcorn shrimp I have ever had) and a few more markets!
Aiden's entertainment was the birds, he LOVED to chase them and if we gave them food they would come right up to him. Of course he loved the water and was quite content to have his cousin Rachel push him around in his car. He also had a lot more "treats" than usual!
We booked on tour to a cove called Las Calatas, we took a boat and were able to do some whale watching as well. All of us girls however, became very sea sick from the choppy water and thankfully they had some drugs aboard for us to take. Alyssa was very ill and promptly fell asleep after the drugs. It was also awesome that my mom offered to keep Aiden back at the resort! That could have been crazy!
Jeff had the awesome oppurtunity to go scuba diving. The highlight of the trip for him and he said one of the best things in his life that he has experienced (besides meeting me).
There is nothing like standing on the ocean floor and seeing all of God's amazing creations just swimming around you and above you. I wish I would have been brave enough to do it!
The kids and us, were able to hold lots of different creatures. A monkey, a parrot and an owl! They had tons of stuff to do on the beach, the inner tubing on the waves was really fun. My nephew also did some snorkeling and we did a bit of hiking.
The last day hanging out. One last drink at the swim up bar, of course it was +30 our last day. Jeremy was the only one excited to leave, since it ment another ride on the airplane!
I honestly can't believe its over. So much anticipation and then, yikes, its all done. I was able to spend a couple days at my brother's before heading home. That was really awesome, Jeff did fly Sunday morning, but I was really glad the kids and I didn't have too. Since we only got back to my brother's at 2:30 in the morning and then Jeff flew out at 7am. Yeah I was a little tired, since my son was on Mexican time and was wide awake when I returned from the airport. I think he was ready to come home, he didn't sleep very well those last nights and we ended up taking him to the clinic thinking he had an ear infection. He didn't but he did manage to catch a nasty cold, which is still hanging around. Hoping it will clear up soon or maybe some teeth will pop out.
All in all the kids did really really well and were surprising well behaved. However they did have 6 other people to dote on them.
Already it has been crazy around here, I have a brand new nephew as of Saturday, but he deserves his own post so I'll try to do that later. Then just trying to settle back in, I have my interview at the church on Tuesday and then Aiden's birthday is coming up next Wednesday. Yeah, January is almost over!

Sounds like you guys had so much fun! I love the pictures! Glad to hear all went well with the flights. It was great to see you in Abby (even though it was just for a short time). Hope all goes well getting back into Sask time!
PS: Thanks so much for the gifts! The sleeper fits perfectly (so cute!) and the sippy cup is great! He loves playing with it, so hopefully one of these days he'll figure out that there's milk in it!
Awesome! I love the pictures. It was nice to sit here on a cold, snowy day and look at pictures of the beach :)
Hope you all got back into routine okay!
Great pics! Matt's grandma took the whole fam to Mexico two Christmas's ago and I will never forget it!! And I know what you mean about the kids behaving so well with so many built-in babysitters...Abbie was a dream down there as well :)
We were at F.R. for Ryan's sendoff last Sunday and were really disappointed to miss you...we'll have to get together sometime!
