IN LOVING MEMORY

My grandpa went home to be with Jesus early yesterday morning. We were in the midst of planning his 80th birthday party, with family coming in, and lots of excitement around this celebration.
Grandpa hadn't been feeling well since just before my wedding in 2005 when he fell and broke his hip. Although there is a big ache in my heart, I thank God that Grandpa didn't have to go into a home to spend the rest of his days.
Grandpa Loewen has always been special to me, taking the place of my own dad for lots of occasions, especially father's day. Also looking out for me in his woodworking garage, where I often puttered. Grandpa was always quick to help me get a project a little sturdier or give gentle words of encouragement.
He was quick to pass out loonies for the local IGA even after Grandma would say no. My Grandpa had a very quiet dispostion but he was always a special presence and when he did talk, he loved to talk about politics, sports and general news of what was going on around us.
Grandpa we love you and are going to miss you!
